Welcome! This guide aims to provide resources for individuals who share an interest in the art of calligraphy. Although calligraphy has many features, this guide primarily focuses on pointed pen calligraphy and brush lettering. The resources offered in this guide are mainly introductory or beginner's level and range from print books to online content. This guide is available to all users regardless of level of expertise.
Modern calligraphy, often labeled as the contemporary art of beautiful lettering, requires practice, dedication, and patience. It is a flourishing art that is often manifested in wedding and event invitations, font design and typography, hand-lettered designs, and so on. Modern calligraphy can be self-taught with the utilization of this guide's resources. There are no rules or guidelines as to how calligraphy works---just follow your heart.
Chinese brush painting, on the other hand, is part of an ancient artistic tradition, relying on similar techniques to calligraphy, but done with a brush dipped in dark ink to create different styles of brush strokes.
